International and UGA students share experiences about exchange programs at the Welcome, Welcome Back! Event

UGA students who are coming back from exchange programs and international students arriving at UGA as exchange participants were welcomed by the Office of International Education, through the Education Abroad Program, held on August 20.

OIE host the Welcome, Welcome Back! event every semester, providing the opportunity for students to connect with each other and to meet with UGA campus partners. This semester’s event had the participation of academic advisors along with OIE administrators and staff and representatives from campus partners such as International Student Life, Career Services, University Housing, the Division of Academic Enhancement, Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, and the Terry College of Business.

“I am very gratified to welcome new students and help them settle in and share with them a moment to celebrate new experiences,” said Ms. Julie Escobedo, Education Abroad Advisor. “It is also a time to celebrate the hard work students have put into their cultural development and academic achievement, as well as to acknowledge the campus community who supports exchange partnership.”

“The event is also an opportunity for returning UGA students to get support as they transition back,” said Ms. Colleen Larson, Education Abroad Advisor, “as well as to share experiences abroad and to provide information about UGA to the ones coming from other countries for exchange participation at UGA.”
