If you are sponsoring a UGA international employee for U.S. permanent residency for an EB-2 category teaching or non-teaching position you will be required by the Department of Labor to provide proof of all recruitment efforts. This documentation becomes part of the official "PERM" labor certification file, and is required prior to the filing of a labor certification on behalf of an international employee. Your department is required to keep all information pertaining to the search for five years following the filing of the labor certification.
The requirements differ for the separate categories of permanent residency filings. There is no recruitment requirement for EB-1 category applications. Please see the relevant information sheets below for EB-2 and EB-3 requirements, respectively.
