ISSIS: Mission Statement
International Student, Scholar and Immigration Services (ISSIS) within the Office of International Education (OIE) at the University of Georgia (UGA) provides centralized immigration and visa-sponsorship services to international students, scholars, faculty and staff, and UGA colleges and schools. By comprehensively assisting the campus with international-related inquiries and facilitating the presence of internationals at UGA, ISSIS contributes to the development and maintenance of a dynamic and intercultural learning environment; supports growing world-wide research endeavors; and assists all students and the University with greater opportunities for success in the global economy.
ISSIS is committed to providing accurate and timely information pertaining to constantly evolving federal regulations governing the stay of internationals at the University of Georgia. We offer relevant outreach and education pertaining to immigration matters. Through our work we strive to create the foundations for welcoming, globally diverse partnerships, and to support UGA's educational, research and internationalization goals for the 21st century.

International Student/Scholar and Immigration Services (ISSIS) is committed to providing accurate, timely, and well informed information on federal regulations governing the stay of international students, scholars, faculty and professional staff at the University of Georgia. By insuring that the institution operates within federally mandated guidelines, advisors are able to assist non-U.S. citizens in maintaining legal status, and eligibility for all benefits to which they are entitled.
Advisors in ISSIS are highly trained professionals who are able to balance responsibility to the institution while providing a welcoming and informed setting where internationals can receive assistance with their U.S. immigration needs and concerns.
We strive to provide a necessary buffer between the international sponsored by UGA and a highly complex federal regulatory bureaucracy. By providing these services ISSIS is able to support UGA's educational, research and internationalization goals for the 21st century.
