PLEASE FILL OUT A SEPARATE PVC 2012 ENTRY FORM (CLICK HERE) FOR EACH SUBMISSION. Photos and/or videos MUST be taken/created by submitter(s). The Office of International Education reserves the right to disqualify any photo based on culturally insensitive or generally inappropriate content. Photos must be in .jpg format, file size from 350 KB to 5 MB. By submitting your photo or video to this contest, you are releasing your rights to the media. Thus, the Office of International Education may use part or all of any submitted photo or video for future marketing or promotional materials. The four categories this year include three photo categories and a video contest:

DAILY LIFE IN ANOTHER CULTURE
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN THE US
THE VIDEO CONTEST

UGA STUDENTS Who Have Traveled Abroad: You may submit only one photo per category. Photos can be from ANY trip abroad (vacation, work, volunteer, study abroad, etc.). The two categories open to UGA students who have traveled abroad are:

  • Daily Life in Another Culture - shots of the quintessential scene in the daily life in a host country (markets, cooking, school, businesses, travel, etc.)
  • Student Engagement - shots of UGA students engaging with a host culture or with individuals from host country

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Studying at UGA: You may submit one photo in the following category. If you traveled abroad while at UGA, you can submit one additional photo in either the the DAILY LIFE IN ANOTHER CULTURE or the STUDENT ENGAGEMENT category.

  • International Students in the US - these shots can include U.S. scenery and/or shots of U.S. culture, with or without the student

VIDEO CONTEST: In addition to the categories above, all students may enter one video in our video contest. The topic of this year's video contest is: WHY YOU SHOULD GO ABROAD! Your video should show and/or discuss:

  • where you chose to go abroad (countries and/or cities)
  • the program you enrolled in or the group you went with
  • why you decided to go there
  • what was unique/special/amazing/inspiring/life changing/etc. about that location/experience/community/etc.

Your video MUST be 2-5 minutes long (no less than 2 min, no more than 5 min).
You MUST make it a YouTube Video and submit only a URL on the entry form. Your video MUST include either shots/scenes of UGA students in the host country, or include some discussion of the experience you/students had in the host country as described above. Since this is a contest, feel free to take some artistic license. Your video can tell a story, include interviews, include drawings, include still shots, include music, include footage from your time in-country, etc. Whatever you do, make sure that at the end of the movie the viewer is excited about your experience! Directions for how to upload a video to YouTube and generate a link can be found in the PVC 2012 Video Upload Directions (PDF) document.

If you have any questions, concerns, or issues, please feel free to contact the PVC 2012 Contest Coordinator, Lauren Satterfield at lauren77@uga.edu. Good luck!
